...or maybe just plain crazy. I've just had this forwarded on to me, which I'll reproduce in full (apart from the boring info bit at the bottom):

The flags are out, the TV's "warming up", and the beer is cooling down in readiness for England's match against Brazil tomorrow.

In order to celebrate the team's forthcoming success, you can celebrate each net with a special offer on our NET100 fast networking cards (you're not supposed to discount new products that are in high demand, but what the heck - we're going to win the World Cup!).

Here's the deal:
For each goal that England beat Brazil, you will receive a UKP5 discount on a single NET100 card.

For each goal that Brazil beat England, you will receive (grudgingly) a UKP1 discount on a single NET100 card.

So, for example, when we beat Brazil by 4-1, you will receive a UKP15 discount off the price of NET100 (UKP89 inc VAT and carriage), giving a final price of UKP74inc VAT and carriage.

This is subject to the following conditions:

You *must* email worldcup@stdevel.co.uk before 7:30am BST Friday 21st June 2002, with your name, address and telephone number in order to qualify for the offer. Emails must be timestamped before this time by at least one trusted mail host (so no setting your clock back!).

The offer *includes* "golden goal" and penalties.

The offer is limited to a total discount of UKP25inc VAT (ie England winning by 5 goals, Brazil winning by 25).

All orders following this offer must be made before Midnight June 25th, except for circumstances which are demonstrably of our making.

This offer is given in good faith, and is an invitation to purchase a single NET100 card at a discretionary discount only. Similarly, although participants should apply only if they wish to purchase a NET100 (minimum discount is, of course, UKP1), no contract, either implied or actual, will exist until a final order is accepted after the match (ie there's some trust, but you're not going to get dragged to court if you enter, but inadvertently spill your drink over your machine in the excitement and so no longer need a NET100).
