WIMP API documentation updates

Posted by Andrew Poole on 18:12, 17/1/2004 | , , , ,

Castle's 32-bit RISC OS site has been updated again, this time with a new document detailing the WIMP API changes since Ursula. Ursula, as many of you know, was Acorn's codename for RISC OS 3.8 - the version of RISC OS that was being developed for the RiscPC II, also known as Phoebe (For those of you who don't watch Friends, Ursula is Phoebe's sister).

Interesting stuff. Not much there though!

I always think of the evil underwater witch from The Little Mermaid when I hear that name mentioned. :D

Unfortunately that would print (mainly) the documentation for RISC OS 3.

What's the documentation provided with RISC OS Select like?

*Configure WimpClickSubmenu
Allows submenus to be opened by clicking on the parent menu item. Mostly useful for touchscreen devices.

Wouldn't the *Configure WimpClickSubmenu mess up the behaviour of some apps, such as the "Quit" submenu in Aemulor? I suppose it's a small issue as you can always quit from the submenu itself.

Just tried it and it's as you say, you can't click on submenu items other than to open the submenu.

I assumed they'd have spotted this problem, and made it so that clicking one it once the submenu is open will perform a click as normal. Obviously not :(

Unregistered user Interesting that the two "named" versions of RISC OS (Arthur and Ursula) both mean "bear". Perhaps its a trend that should be continued.
How about calling the next version of Select "Paddington"?
