Well, it’s that time of the year again; Mince Pies, Carols by Candle Light, distant relatives staying over, and of course, Santa and his Reindeer.
What better a time to release the first of many previously unreleased games by Matthew Willson?
Snowland is a simple platformer, where you control Santa and must collect presents and deliver them to childrens bedsides.
Your only enemies are time, and the evil snowmen that persist to get in your way
As you go along delivering presents, depending on your actions, bits of the screen may appear/disappear, so make sure you deliver the presents in the correct order.
Also there are Tangerines and Christmas Puds to collect for points and the joyous sound of simple BASIC effects.
Having beaten the clock at any given stage, you will then move on to face 'Scrooge' who will mercilessly throw large snowballs at you to dodge for points.
After taking your fill of Scrooges snowballs, you are then taken on to another stage where you control Santa in his Sleigh and must fly through as many Star gateways as possible.
Download
Snowland now, or have a look at our
Free games section.
This version of
Snowland should work fine on all versions of RISC OS from Arthur to RISC OS 3.x and maybe even RISC OS 4 if you’re lucky.
And from everybody here at AcornArcade, to everybody reading this article,
Have a Merry Christmas, and a happy new year!

Thanks. I do have the Level Editor on me as well, not very user friendly however, and theres a password thingy I need to get round to removing. If this was written in 1994 then he would have been roughly 10/11 when he wrote this. |

Yup, although not for RISC OS, and not games. He has a well paid Web Designer job in Covent Garden at the mo, but is unsure what to do with it after Graduating. |

Can't get it to work properly with RISC OS 4.39, the RETURN key doesn't do anything! Having a look at the program, I can't find any reference to the RETURN key. Any solutions? |

Well, first of all i'm surprised it even works on RISC OS 4, but the Return makes santa jump in the bonus stage with the snowballs. I should have mentioned that at some point, also that A and Z are up and down in the gateway course. Ill update it after Xmas. |

"If you hop over to our sister site Acorn Arcade they have saved us the job by releasing Snowland - a Christmas themed game by Matthew Wilson - for you all to spend Christmas day playing on your shiny new IYONIX PCs (maybe if it is 32bit and Santa thinks you have been good boys or girls)."
